Position Title: Integration Engineer

Reports Directly To: Director of Interoperability

Location: Columbia, MD

Hours Per Week: Full Time (40 hours), including On-Call Availability

Risk Designation: High

 

Job Summary

The Integration Engineer will be responsible for creating, configuring, and maintaining the data connections that allow CSS to exchange information with its customers and partners.  The ideal engineer would be able to lead an integration with a new customer, identify and resolve potential issues with current integrations, and assist other teams in reviewing and monitoring data flow across the CSS environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Working with CSS’s customers to onboard new data feeds and connections for sharing data.
  • Maintaining operational status of production data feeds and systems.
  • Monitoring data flow through each system to ensure that all information reaches its intended destination.
  • Work with members from other teams to ensure successful integrations and inter-system operability.
  • Troubleshoot errors or issues with production feeds, including assisting owners of dependent systems with troubleshooting.

  • Integration experience, familiarity with HL7 messages required.
  • Ability to create and understand technical documentation.
  • Ability to manage the Software Lifecycle Development Cycle in an organized fashion.
  • Ability to understand data encryption principles, including VPN and TLS connections.
  • Outstanding communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Ability to evaluate and solve complex problems and issues.

Experience and/or Education Requirements

•          Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or information systems, preferred.

•          2 to 4 years of work experience in healthcare technology.

•          1 to 4 years of experience with healthcare integrations, required.

•          Working knowledge of Mirth Connect, JavaScript, HL7 V2, and HL7 CCDA, preferred.

•          Experience with Python, a plus.

•          Knowledge of FHIR, a plus.
